Tennis Balls Are For Dogs, Not Tennis Bracelets
Years ago we had an affluent client that had just purchased a beautiful tennis bracelet for his wife. Within a few days of purchasing the bracelet, their beloved yellow lab ate the bracelet. Fortunately, he had called us to add the bracelet to his policy as soon as he purchased it, so we were able to buy his wife a new tennis bracelet….now they keep it out of the dog’s reach.

Basement Never Flooded Before
A client that I had insured for many years was purchasing a new home. The previous owner had just spent $40,000 finishing the basement. The previous owner assured her that they never had a water problem. I strongly recommended that she purchase the sump pump back up coverage, just in case, since the home was new to her and she had no idea how it handled heavy rains. Luckily she took my advice and added the coverage. Two months into the new home, guess what…..the sump pump failed and they had $7,000 in damage. I was so happy to give her the good news when she called me in tears.

Not All Car Detailers Are Created Equal
Another client that I have insured for probably 15 years just happen to mention to me one day that when she put her car into a shop to get detailed before her daughters wedding almost a year ago. The detailer, while buffing the car, put scratches all over the car. I asked her why she had never called and told me about it. She just assumed there was nothing she could do. Well, we reported it (a year after it happened), and she was paid $2500 to completely repair the paint, then the company was able to go back after the detail shop and make them pay for the damage they had caused to her car.
